Our Unschooling/Homeschooling Reading Shelf

We all love reading. Our library cards are always maxed out and our Amazon “Wish Lists” are extremely long!  So, I thought it might be nice to share with other home educating families the books we are all reading at the moment. (You can click on any of the images below to buy the books from Amazon.)

Mummy is reading:

Unschooling Dads – Twenty-two Testimonials on Their Unconventional Approach to Education.”

This book is wonderful! If you haven’t read it yet you really should. It is especially good for any dads out there who are feeling a bit wobbly about their children being Unschooled or Home schooled. It’s not just about Unschooling by the way.

Dad is reading:

PINES by Blake Crouch

After watching the TV series he had to buy the books which he thinks are even better.

Our son is reading:

Our son (aged 8) is not yet reading on his own, so hubby and I read to him. With mummy, he likes to read funny books. We loved and have just finished:

‘Awful Auntie’ by David Walliams

This book is going to be read again within the next couple of months, I just know it. It is so well written and had us laughing out loud. I am a big fan of David Walliams, he is a child at heart and just a jolly nice chap!

We have now started reading:

‘The Shark-Headed Bear-Thing’ by Barry Hutchison (Benjamin Blank Series)

Again, another laugh out loud book. I think we will be reading the whole series of these. This is a good book for girls too. One of its characters, called Paradise is a very “short” girl who keeps the boys in order.

With his dad, our son is reading:

‘Gold of the Gods’ by Bear Grylls – Mission Survival (Series)

Our son loves Bear Grylls and these books are full of adventure and survival tips.

Our daughter is reading:

‘VALKYRIE – The Runaway’ by Kate O’Hearn

Our daughter (14 yrs old) loves fantasy and is enjoying this book for young adults. She did not start to read until she was 12 years old, but she sure is a fierce reader now!

What books are your family reading right now? Which books make your children laugh out loud? We would love to know. Sharing is great!
